Submitting Scores for Assessment
When you are ready to submit a written musical composition (or score), there are a few ways you can capture what is on the paper in a format that can be uploaded as an assignment.
1. Digital Camera
- Using a digital camera (some are integrated in cell phones), take a snapshot of your musical score.
- Be sure the entire score is captured in the digital photograph, and stand close enough to the score that the notes and symbols can be clearly read.
- Download the image from the camera to your computer.
- Using imaging tools provided with your camera, or imaging software installed on your computer (i.e. MS "Paint") save the file as a JPEG (.jpg) file.
- Name the file according to the instructions on the assigment page of the lesson.
- Upload your image file according to the instructions on the assigment page of the lesson.
2. Digital Video Recorder
- Using a digital video camera (some are integrated in cell phones), take a video (perhaps 10 to 15 seconds) of your musical score.
- Be sure the entire score is captured in the video, and stand close enough to the score that the notes and symbols can be clearly read.
- Download the image from the video recorder to your computer.
- Using video editing tools provided with your camera, or other video editing software installed on your computer (i.e. MS "MovieMaker") save the video as you would a performance video.
- Some video editing tools have a feature allowing you to capture a snapshot of a frame in the video.
- If you are able to do this, take the snapshot to create an image of your score.
- Then, use the instructions for the "Digital Camera" to save and submit your score image.
- Name the file according to the instructions on the assigment page of the lesson.
- Upload your image file according to the instructions on the assigment page of the lesson.
3. Document Scanner
- Using a document scanner, scan your musical score.
- Be sure the entire score is captured in the scanned image.
- Using imaging tools provided with your scanner, or imaging software installed on your computer (i.e. MS "Paint") save the file as a JPEG (.jpg) file.
- Name the file according to the instructions on the assigment page of the lesson.
- Upload your image file according to the instructions on the assigment page of the lesson.
