Passion: The most important aspect of practicing is that you have a strong desire (or passion) to become an excellent guitarist and musician. If it matters enough to you, then you can do it!
Planning: Set specific goals for each practice session. You can only achieve a goal if you have a goal! Focus on accomplishing one goal at a time. Even the largest buildings are constructed step by step, one brick at a time, while following a well thought out plan.
Practice: Determine how much time you can devote to practicing the guitar. The amount of practice time may vary greatly from one student to the next, depending on the age and schedule of the student. As a general guideline, try to practice at least 30 minutes per day, five days per week.
Patience: Anything that is worthwhile takes time. You will become a better musician by practicing slowly and correctly. It is much easier to develop habits of relaxation and accuracy if you practice slowly. It is almost impossible to master new skills (and correct mistakes) if you always practice too quickly.
Perseverance: No one has ever been too good at doing anything! No matter how proficient you become on the guitar, there is always room for improvement. Every time you play the guitar, you have a chance of improving your skills. Continue to strive for excellence in all that you do.
