Chords
You will now use a chord diagram to learn to play an E minor chord:
- Use your second finger to hold down the fifth string on the second fret. Use your third finger to hold down the fourth string, also on the second fret. The remaining strings will all be played as open strings.
- The chord symbol above the diagram is an abbreviation of the chord name. For the E minor chord, the chord symbol is “Em.”
- Place your left-hand fingers in position to play the E minor chord.
- Use your right-hand thumb (or a guitar pick) to strum all six strings.
- Beginning with the sixth string, play each string individually. Listen for a clear tone from each string as you play.
