The E Major Chord (E)
We will now learn to play the E major chord:
- The E major chord uses all six strings.
- Your second finger will hold down the fifth string on the second fret.
- Your third finger will hold down the fourth string on the second fret.
- Your first finger will hold down the third string on the first fret.
- Strings 6, 2, and 1 will all be played as open strings.
- Practice strumming the E major chord using downstrokes with the back (or nail) side of your right-hand fingers. This is called a brush strum. Strum with a steady beat, striving for a beautiful sound.
